On the basis of meeting the basic elements of residential construction, health elements such as suitable temperature, soft lighting, lush green plants, etc. are improved to create a comfortable and healthy living environment. An optimal residence should meet the following six standards:

1 Room temperature: 20℃

Studies have found that constant room temperature is of great significance to health. A suitable temperature not only makes people feel comfortable, but also has a profound impact on human health, and even hides the secret of longevity.

Generally speaking, when the room temperature is around 20℃, people not only feel comfortable, but also fall asleep easily. This temperature is conducive to the body dissipating excess heat. When it exceeds 25℃, the human body begins to absorb heat from the outside world and begins to feel hot and uncomfortable. Overheating and overcooling will affect the speed of falling asleep and the state of sleep.

2 Humidity: 40%

In the home environment, humidity is also an important indicator. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States found in 2007 that high indoor humidity makes influenza viruses less contagious. When the indoor humidity is below 23%, 70% to 77% of virus particles can maintain their own infectivity, but when the humidity increases to 43%, only 14% of virus particles have the ability to infect cells.

The suitable indoor humidity for the elderly and children is 45% to 50%. The suitable indoor humidity for patients with respiratory diseases such as asthma is between 40% and 50%.

3 Ventilation: half an hour a day

In life, indoor air will produce a lot of pollution after a night. Garbage, carpets, bedding, etc. in the kitchen, bathroom, and trash cans produce exhaust gas all the time. In winter, many families are afraid of cold air entering, so they close the windows for a long time, and the indoor air circulation is not smooth, causing a large amount of harmful gases to reverberate indoors. Many people's physical resistance begins to decline and they are frequently attacked by diseases.

Experts say that ventilation is an effective way to improve indoor air. 9:00-11:00 and 14:00-15:00 every day are the best ventilation times. The doors and windows of the kitchen, bathroom, and living room can be opened for ventilation for half an hour. Dust regularly every half a month or a month to reduce harmful particles in the air.

4 Light brightness: no more than 90%

The standard of a healthy lighting environment must take into account the illumination and color temperature of the lamps. The lighting requirements of different spaces in the home must conform to the human body's work and rest rules. The brightness of living rooms, study rooms, dining rooms and other spaces should be stronger than that of bedrooms, kitchens and other spaces. It is best to choose cold-toned lights, that is, white lights, and warm-toned light sources with yellow light should be used in bedrooms, bathrooms and balconies.

For local lighting, table lamps with good light-shielding properties should be used to block the more infrared radiation contained in such light sources. Indoor light should be kept as soft, uniform, without glare and shadows as possible. The brightness of adjustable light sources should be controlled at 60% to 80%, and the maximum brightness should not exceed 90%.

5 Green plants: two pots per 10 square meters

Placing green plants at home can make the home environment more lively and relieve tension. Research from the University of Exeter in the UK found that placing potted plants in the workplace can improve employees' psychological comfort and corporate performance, and can also reduce the chance of employees changing jobs.

Experts say that plants should be selected and placed according to the size of the room. For a room of about 10 square meters, two pots of 1.5-meter-high plants are enough. Balconies, halls and other sunny places are suitable for placing green plants. It is best not to put large pots of plants in the bedroom, because green plants absorb carbon dioxide during the day through photosynthesis, and at night they will compete with people for oxygen and release pollutants such as carbon dioxide, which makes people feel insufficient oxygen supply, causing dizziness, breathing difficulties and other problems.

6 Sunlight: 2 hours a day

Rooms with good lighting have great psychological and physiological effects, especially for the elderly and children. Ultraviolet rays in sunlight can help growing children absorb calcium and strengthen bones; more sun exposure for the elderly can prevent osteoporosis to a certain extent.

Summery :

On October 25, 2016, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued the Outline of the Healthy China 2030 Plan. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that health is an inevitable requirement for promoting the all-round development of people and a basic condition for economic and social development. As a place closely related to people's life, work, study and other activities, people spend about 90% of their time in buildings every day. Therefore, it is very important to improve the health performance of buildings.

In January 2017, the China Academy of Building Research and the China Urban Science Research Association jointly with domestic authoritative institutions issued the Healthy Building Evaluation Standard and launched the first batch of healthy building evaluation work. In March 2017, the awarding ceremony of healthy buildings was held at the 13th International Green Building and Building Energy Conservation Conference. At the 14th International Green Building and Building Energy Conservation Conference to be held from April 2 to 3, 2018, "Healthy Building" will continue to be a key topic for discussion.
